As we bid farewell to 2020 and had an interesting start to 2021, enduring the previous several months has left an indelible mark in our memories. We have experienced the global pandemic’s emotional and financial impact, racial divides and protests, and a contentious presidential election. Our normal way of life has been altered far beyond our comprehension and leaves us longing for a more familiar reality. While each day brings a new dawn, we face many challenges and are embattled with a virus that remains elusive.
Despite these circumstances, we are closer to mass distributions of vaccines with each passing day and remain hopeful for a brighter tomorrow as new treatments become available for those who are suffering. Our thoughts and prayers are with the families whose loved ones are currently fighting COVID-19, and those who have tragically passed away due to complications. We are also praying for our nation’s healing and a new spirit of unity, understanding, and compassion shared with our fellow Americans.
On many occasions, it has been stated these are unprecedented times. We encourage each of you to take a moment to reflect on what you are most grateful for in your life. Our nation endured difficult periods in our history when optimism seemed in short supply. And yet, through faith, hope, and perseverance, we overcame tremendous obstacles entangled with emotional strife. Our national culture has been defined by our resiliency, innovation, and determination to succeed throughout the years. As 2021 begins, each of us has the opportunity for a fresh start with a renewed sense of optimism and purpose.
